Glycolic peels, also known as Alpha Hydroxy Acid or “AHA” is an extract from sugar cane and is a safe and effective way to exfoliate your skins’ cell turnover rate. It’s important to do chemical peels monthly to maintain a fresh face so the build up of dead skin doesn’t happen. AHA peels dive deeper into the skin’s surface helping to reduce hyperpigmentation, evens out overall skin tone, and improves fine lines and wrinkles over time.

Depending on the strength of the Glycolic Acid, ‘flaking or shedding’ of skin is the most common side effect which typically happens on the second or third day after the peel.

We highly recommend that all patients seeing us for a chemical peel to stop the use of all Glycolic and Salicylic Acids as well as any Retinol, Tretinoin & Retin-A for 3-5 days pre/post treatment. Staying out of the sun when the UV rays are at their peak as any chemical peels make your skin more photosensitive.
