Extractions are done for patients who have clogged or congested cystic acne or milia (trapped pockets of an oil gland). Extractions can sometimes be covered through insurance but most of the time are not. Extractions take anywhere from 10-15 minutes. Most of the time our esthetician can extract anything on the face manually, with their hands. In some cases, our providers need to use extracting tools to help get the deeper congested areas unclogged.

Why Extractions are performed?

Extractions are an important step in achieving clear, healthy skin. When oil and dead skin cells accumulate in the pores, they can become clogged and lead to the development of acne. By removing these impurities, extractions help to prevent acne breakouts and improve the overall appearance of the skin.

Types of Extraction Tools

There are several types of extraction tools that an esthetician may use during a treatment. Some of the most common tools include comedone extractors, lancets, and surgical blades. These tools are designed to be used with precision and care to minimize the risk of scarring or other damage to the skin.

While extractions can be an effective way to improve the health and appearance of the skin, it is important to have them performed by a trained and experienced esthetician. Attempting to extract pimples or blackheads at home can lead to further irritation and even scarring.

At Pure Dermatology Cosmetic and Hair Center, our estheticians are skilled in performing safe and effective extractions as part of our esthetic services. We use only the highest quality tools and techniques to ensure that your skin is left looking and feeling its best.
