Who says we can’t age gracefully? We can! Keeping your skin radiant and youthful is easier than you think. These anti-aging tips can help you age with confidence and grace.
Tip #1: Start While You’re Young
Skincare is important at all ages of life. Undoubtedly, one of the most critical periods to prioritize your skincare regimen is during your youth. Starting young can help prevent early signs of aging.
Tip #2: Make Sunscreen Your Best Friend
Sunscreen is the holy grail of anti-aging skincare. The harsh UV rays from the sun can dry out your skin and cause premature aging, like wrinkles, sun spots, and even skin cancer. Always make sure to apply at least an SPF 30 every day to your face, neck, chest, and hands, whether it’s sunny or not. I also recommend doubling up with two layers and reapplying throughout the day to ensure the best protection.
Tip #3: Solidify Your Skincare Routine
Apart from sunscreen, having a solid skincare routine is essential to keep your skin healthy and youthful. Applying retinol every other night is an excellent addition to your routine that can help reduce fine lines, smooth skin, and even skin tone. In addition to retinol, make sure to incorporate AHAs or BHAs to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells for smooth and brighter skin. Finally, an antioxidant moisturizing cream works great to lock in moisture and neutralize oxidative stressors on your skin.
Tip #4: Consider Injectables
Cosmetic injectables are one of my favorite cosmetic treatments, especially for anti-aging. Botox is an amazing neurotoxin that works to reduce and prevent fine lines by immobilizing and softening the muscles in your face. I recommend Botox injections for the upper half of your face to reduce the 11 lines between your eyebrows, forehead wrinkles, and eye creases. As for the bottom half of your face, bony-based fillers are an awesome way to structure, sculpt, and lift your face for a younger appearance.
Tip #5: Try Out Collagen-Stimulating Treatments
As we age, our skin produces less and less collagen. Collagen is the infrastructure of our skin’s elasticity and hydration, so lowered collagen levels contribute to wrinkles and sagging skin. There are new collagen-stimulating treatments that can help, such as Thermage and Ultherapy. Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to heat and stimulate the collagen in your skin, resulting in refreshed and tighter skin. Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to trigger natural collagen production, to help lift and tighten sagging skin.
Aging gracefully is about embracing change, and incorporating the best routine and healthcare for your skin.
